Dr. Herb Yee
Veterinarian
Prior to becoming a veterinarian, Herb was a career naval officer and navigator with 20 years experience in naval aviation. He earned his undergraduate degree from the US Naval Academy and Masters degree from the Army Command and General Staff College. GO NAVY, BEAT ARMY! After transitioning from the Navy, Herb worked for a defense support contractor for several years before returning to school as a full time graduate student. He earned his doctorate of veterinary medicine from Virginia Tech. GO HOKIES!
Herb opened Breton Equine Veterinary Services, a mobile/ambulatory practice serving the tri-counties in Southern Maryland. He enjoys working on both large animals (including goats and sheep) and companion animals (dogs and cats). He acquired advanced training in equine dentistry and has helped many patients regain weight and body condition through corrective dentistry. In addition, Herb studied traditional Chinese acupuncture as part of his continuing education at the Chi Institute. Applying a systems engineering approach to medicine, he integrates eastern and western medicine for both diagnosis and treatment when it is in the best interest of his patients.
Herb’s interest in horses started with Arabians and it expanded from there over the next 30 years. Herb manages the health of 26 horses on their farm in Leonardtown. He can be seen performing farm maintenance when he is not practicing medicine. In his free time, he enjoys fishing, navigating through obstacles for his wife in carriage driving events and giving horse related seminars to local 4-H clubs and young students interested in pursuing veterinary medicine as a potential career choice.
